Grading, woot woot

So as I'm grading homework and quizzes, I'm watching the new Tony Danza show "Teach" and Oprah's shows about education.

first of all, I want to say "thanks" to Oprah. Finally saying what needs to be said, this is our country we are talking about. Having a poor education system will result in a poor democracy in the future. Argh.

Regarding Danza's show. All I can think about is, man, it's not fair. I've busted my ass to jump through the hoops to become a certified teacher. Now, here I am, a teacher with no classroom of her own. yet, an actor can come in with a tv camera crew, no educational training, graduated college 40 years ago....and have his own classroom?

It's interesting to watch, b/c I'm sure I looked exactly like he did the first time i stepped into a classroom. It also shows the public that teaching is not this piece of cake job every thinks they can do. But, come on! Where's my classroom?
