Ok, wedding ceremony and venue...check, caterer....check, decor...need to finalize, but check. Wedding dress style...check. Wedding dress? not yet.
So, the next 6 weeks the fiancé is in India for work. It seems like such a long time, considering we have never been apart for more than a week. Good thing we have internet, well, unless we were Egyptians.
Egypt is in middle of protesting against their authoritarian government. Fun times when they are pissed off at a "president" who has been in power for 3 decades. Seriously, this dude has been in control of Egypt since I was born. This guy is our friend as well as Israel's friend, but people get fed up with the same power in control. There's a reason why our presidents only get to serve 8 years.
Anyway, back to my initial connection between internet and Egypt. Apparently, as a way to combat the protesters, the government has disabled the internet. Yep, you read that right. Protesters have been using twitter and Facebook as a way to organize the rallies, so the government has disabled the internet as a way to break down communication. Gasp! Does this mean that the Egyptian protesters actually have to communicate and make plans the old way?! I mean, secret meetings in empty homes or in schools after hours making plans for the next protest with the "leaders" of each disgruntle group? Kudos to the idea, but it won't stop the protests.
