My own Bouquet

So I'm trying to DIY for my floral bouquet. I've decided to go with something like THIS. I'm sure it will be cute, if I can figure out how to make it look better than what I've got.

So I started with some rick-rack ribbon (Available at Joann's Fabric Store). Some matching thread. I'm using a 100% nylon thread to ensure it holds up through carrying and tossing.

I then cut a section of ribbon (about a 16 count of bumps), and using my threaded needle and trusty thimble I got to work.

I bunched together all the rick-rack ribbon onto the needle before pulling the thread all the way through the ribbon.

Next I did a couple of stitches between the first rick-rack bump and the last rick-rack bump.

I used a bigger holly ornament for the "pistil", because I realize, now, that a 16 count for the thinner ribbon maybe too big.

Also, I need to figure out how to seal the ends of the ribbon, because it is starting to un-fringe. argh. Well, it is def a learning process. I'm sure I will get this down, and hell it may only cost me $30 for all 6 bouquets and boutonnieres instead of the budgeted $500.

Oh, those will be cute!
Burn the ends of the ribbons with a lighter to heat seal them.

Thanks Jill. I was thinking about using a lighter, but wasn't sure if the rick rack would react the same as rope. We will see!
