goodbye little fellow

Ah poor little Pluto. We grew up knowing that Pluto was the Pizza that Our Excellent Mother was serving us, but no not anymore.

It will always be a planet to me. Just listen to "pluto drive" by the creatures, off the "boomerang" album, circa 1989 or 1990.

If you didn't know, the creatures are Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie (former lead singer and drummer of Siouxsie and the Banshees).

I'm kind of with you, Pluto is always gonna be a planet to me. It took me long enough to learn the planets it'll take me a bit to forget them.

What about Planet X, wasn't that a planet for a minute?

I think it was even more in limbo than Pluto was - never really legitimately recognized. Sort of like Sealand - the world's smallest country, but unofficially, since it's not recognized by the UN. (Vatican City is the smallest recognized sovereign state.) Yup, I'm a geek...

Pluto hasn't been a planet to me since Astrophysics class my sophomore year of college, because they never recognized Charon as a planet. You know, the planet that shared a BINARY SYSTEM with Pluto. The word binary should tell you that you have to take TWO, or none at all. Go IAU!

Sorry, but Sealand is just an abandoned oilrig some guy bought but he was found not a valid sovereign state in 1990.
