um..has someone forgot to tell him there's an election soon?

That's awesome Kerry, way to just back hand the military. We already saw you threw away your medals...why couldn't you just leave it at that instead of insulting our men and women of uniform.

let's just point out that officers need a college degree to even become an officer (there are exceptions for promotions during battle time). Let's also point out the education opportunities the military gives their soldiers (GI bill? or how about ROTC). And finally way to really support the kids who come out of high school straight into enlisting because unfortunately they couldn't make it into college but found their calling. Now is that a stupid move for them to enlist or is it stupid for them to stay home be bored and get into trouble that ultimately will place them in a lifestyle of crime (not saying that all high school only degreers are criminally minded, just statistically)

Oh god this really gets under my skin.

He screwed up, and was trying to make a dumb joke about Bush, instead of the troops. True, he was foolish to not retract the statement, but if he was smart, he'd apologize and just get the hell off the tube for a while. He's not even running for an office this year! His term isn't up yet!

He does need to stay low, even the democrats aren't happy with his statements. It really amazes me that someone who did serve and then went on in his political career based on the fact that he was a military man to turn around and say such comments and blame them on a botched joke?
You are right, he needs to lay low, he needs to apologize. We already went through the circles of him and Bush battling their military issues back in 2004, we don't need to go through that again.

Well, he has issued an apology today, and if he's smart, will vanish into the background for a while now...
