School is finally finished! I will be graduating with a Masters and Summa Cum Laude. Yep, that's right beyotches! I made 3.9something (last grade hasn't posted, but it's an A)
Now, let's see who is hiring. I'm pretty much shotgunning the approach with my applications. Hopefully, someone will bite. If not, they can bite me. No, not really.
In other news, good job Arizona. Finally, trying to regulate a federal law on the state level. Now, let me reiterate, I have no problems with immigration. This country is built on immigration, melting pot is what makes America awesome. I do, however, have a problem with illegal immigration. There are rules and regulations in place, and there are many of folk who follow this process and have no problems (yes, I do realize there are a few exceptions b/c come on it is government so there is bound to be some horror stories. overall, however, no. )
My other issue, is we are in middle of dealing with some heavy economic times and money being sent back to another country, yes I have an issue.
The argument that illegals are doing jobs Americans don't want to do, is horse crap. And, that argument is a slap in Americans' faces. You get hungry enough, you will do jobs that sucks but pays. I know, I used to clean homes.
ok, need to go back to drinking coffee and not et worked up about this issue.

Almost, but...
The Arizona law is flat out racist. I'm all for controlled immigration, but I think that a law that allows police officers to demand papers from any person they see is terrifyingly broad. Sure, they need a "reasonable suspicion" that the person is an illegal immigrant, but what does that even mean? What can someone do to make you think they are an illegal immigrant, as opposed to a legal one? Really, there is no answer to that question. Illegal immigrants act just like everyday, ordinary Americans.
Also, the bill allows people to sue their local government if they feel the anti immigration law is not being enforced, which means that police now HAVE to hassle people in order to keep up appearances, or get sued.
And if you're really worried about money leaving the country, I'd focus on the top, with billionaires putting money in offshore bank accounts and tax shelters, or massive corporate outsourcing, rather than people making less than minimum wage. You're upset about a pimple when you're bleeding from the neck.
Oh, and yeah, Americans will do any job, but that doesn't mean people will want to pay them decent wages. Blame the businesses for wanting people they don't have to pay.
I understand and see your points, but I don't think the law is racist. I think it is a state finally tired of a situation in which the federal government states they will take care of ....and like most things the federal government is "supposed to take care of" has slacked.
As far as reasonable cause, it's no different than a police officer using reasonable cause for a drug search during a routine traffic stop. If someone smells like pot, there is a high reason to believe they have pot. If someone takes off running when you pull them over, there is a high reason to believe they are hiding something, or is an illegal.
Now as far as offshore banking...I'm not sure if I like that either. It is taking money out of our bank system, but it doesn't take away from our tax system, nor consumer system.
And business hiring illegals because it's cheap labor, hell yeah go after them! Make them pay for creating a cycle of...can't think of a fancy way of putting what i'm trying to say, but you get the gist. a county in Georgia even tried to go after apartment managers for renting to known illegal immigrants, I'm not sure what came of that.
But if someone takes off running, you already have the right to arrest them and at that point you have the right to check for immigration status. And as far as drugs go, there are physical symptoms (and a distinct smell, with pot) that can give an officer suspicion. What are the things that might make you suspect someone is an illegal immigrant, that are not covered under existing laws?
